Richard Notkin + Ron Lang

Richard Notkin:
Bio Statement: born in Chicago, 1948, received a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1970) and an MFA from the University of California, Davis (1973). A resident of Helena, Montana since 1994, his work has been exhibited internationally and is in the collections of numerous museums throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Among his awards are fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts (1979, 1981 and 1988), The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (1990), and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation (1991).

Artist Statement: As an artist who has long appreciated the diminutive object, I am very pleased to collaborate with the artists of the living craft of Bonsai. The inanimate clay object may imply life, but the addition of a carefully chosen and placed miniature tree will breathe new life into both crafts. I am excited to be a part of this new experiment.
