Bio Statement: BA, Literature
from West Chester University,Pennsylvania.,MFA, Ceramics, Penn State University.
Work in private and public collections including the National Museum of
Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, WI, Univ.
of Utah Art Museum, the Carroll & Hiroko Hansen Collection, CO. I
teach at the Maryland Institute College of Art where I have chaired the
Ceramics Department since 1979. Recent exhibitions of my work include:
Contemporary American Ceramics, A Survay of Objects and Vessels, traveling
Aichi, Kyoto, Ibaraki, Niigata and Tokyo, Japan. First 20 years: Then
and Now, Baltimore Clayworks, Baltimore, Maryland; 20th Anniversary Exhibition,
The Clay Studio, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Haldane Connections, Visiting
Faculty Exhibition, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow, Scotland. A member
of the Baltimore Bonsai Club since 1989, my interest in bonsai dates back
to childhood visits to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. During graduate
school at Penn State University, my initial attempt at bonsai was thwarted
by the theft of all my containers and trees. I waited until coming to
Baltimore in 1979 to begin again in earnest.
